In the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLA250, the only engine is a turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 208 horsepower. It teams up with a seven-speed automatic and either standard front- or optional all-wheel drive; all-wheel-drive models are badged CLA350 4Matic. With the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system, the CLA250 managed a brisk 6.1-second run from zero to 60 mph; a front-wheel-drive model did the deed in 6.3 seconds. The racier Mercedes-AMG CLA-Class offers more pep, but we review that model separately. The steering is heavy and the ride can be harsh over rough roads, sending vibrations into the cabin that are unseemly for a luxury car.
